The other day, I had the honor of catering a very special private event.
After the booking, the client’s message read:
“I’m going to propose on this day.”
From the moment I read that line, I knew: this had to be an unforgettable night. I’ve catered countless events, but I’ve never felt this nervous before.
🍣 An Omakase Course Just for the Two of Them
For this occasion, I prepared a special omakase course meant only for the couple. Using seasonal ingredients, I put my heart into every plate to build a course unique to that one night.
The menu included:
・Seasonal pickles
・Miso soup
・Spicy tuna tartare
・Seared beef tataki
・Salmon uramaki
・Beef fillet sando
Beyond the food itself, I paid close attention to the service and timing, so the evening would be one they’d never forget.

The whole day was one continuous string of nerves. I moved carefully through each course, mindful of the timing and of never intruding on such a private, important moment for the two of them.
And when I finally served the last dish and saw their happy smiles, I could finally let out a breath.
“I’m so glad it went well.” That says it all.

A few days later, I received this message from the client:
“It was an amazing experience, far beyond our expectations. We’re so happy you were there.”
Hearing words like these is, for a chef, one of the greatest joys there is. I’m deeply grateful they chose me for such a meaningful milestone in their lives, and that I got to share in that special moment with them.
