Validity & Extension of Bookings and Gift Vouchers

Thank you for booking a class or using a gift voucher with Sushi Yoko.

To ensure fairness toward customers who redeem their booking or voucher within the validity period, and to reflect rising prices and fluctuating food costs in recent years, we have established rules for redeeming and rescheduling bookings and gift vouchers.

Processing expired bookings and vouchers requires significantly more work than one might expect: identifying the original purchaser, verifying transfers and payment history, and confirming the class price that applied at the time — all of which involves time-consuming email exchanges. To ensure we can handle all requests as promptly as possible and avoid unnecessary delays, we ask for your understanding and cooperation with the following rules.

Validity Period

This rule applies equally to regular class bookings and to gift vouchers.

Bookings and gift vouchers are valid for 1 year from the date of booking or issue.

As popular classes may become fully booked, we recommend registering or rescheduling early, even within the validity period.

🎁 If You Refer a Friend or Family Member

It is important to me that new connections are made through Japanese culture in my classes.

If you hold an expired booking or gift voucher and refer a new, paying participant who attends the same date and the same class together with you, the extension fee will be waived.

If the class price has changed since your original purchase or booking, only the price difference will need to be paid.

※ It is a requirement that the referring person also attends the same date and the same class as the new participant (a referral without your own attendance does not qualify).
※ The new participant pays the regular class price.
※ Both the referring person and the new participant must register via the online booking form.
※ Please note “Extension (Referral)” in the comment field.

Within 1 Year of Expiry

Within one year of expiry, you may still redeem your booking or voucher by paying an extension fee (rescheduling to a new date is also possible).

Extension Fee

  • Matcha & Japanese Sweets Class (booked as “Matcha Workshop with Mochi and Tea Ceremony”): CHF 15
  • Sushi Roll Class (for beginners): CHF 20
  • Japanese Cooking Class: CHF 25
  • Special Sushi Class: CHF 30

※ For the Japanese Culinary Master Class, the extension fee is waived within 3 years of issue or booking. In this case, only any applicable price difference to the current class price needs to be paid. After 3 years, the rules described below under “More Than 3 Years After Expiry” apply.

1 to 3 Years After Expiry

For bookings and vouchers that expired more than one year ago, the following amounts apply:

  • the extension fee
  • the difference to the current class price

Due to rising prices and fluctuating food costs, we periodically adjust our class prices. This may result in a difference between the price at the time of your original booking or purchase and the current class price.

More Than 3 Years After Expiry

Bookings and vouchers that expired more than 3 years ago can, in principle, no longer be automatically extended or rescheduled.

If special circumstances apply, please contact us via our contact page.

Depending on the situation, redemption may be possible upon payment of the price difference or under special conditions.

How to Proceed

  1. Register for your desired class via the online booking form.
  2. You may register together with the referred person at the same time, or separately, each on your own.
  3. In all cases, please note the relevant remark regarding extension or rescheduling in the comment field (“Extension/Rescheduling Requested” or “Extension (Referral)”). Without this note, we cannot match your request to the extension or discount, so please be sure to include it.
  4. Please also state the voucher or booking number in the comment field. If the number for an older booking or voucher is no longer known, please let us know the name of the original purchaser or gift-giver, the name of the participant or recipient, and the approximate date of booking or purchase, either in the comment field or via the contact form.
  5. If two people register together, you will automatically receive an email with payment details. Please use this to pay, in a single payment, the full class price for the new participant along with the extension fee and, if applicable, the price difference.
  6. Once your payment has been received, we will send you further details (such as the address).
